Norman "Speedy" C.



Norman C. "Speedy" Schonter, age 79, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 30, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on November 10, 1934, to Melvin and Francis (Kolling) Schonter in Toledo. Norm was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed at Willis Day Storage for over 40 years. Norm loved the Cleveland Indians and spending time with Dillon Rodriguez, his little buddy and special great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin, Dale, Tom, Jerry, Jack, Don, Marvin and Nelson (Skip) and his former spouse, Mary Ellen (Facey) Schonter. Norm is survived by his loving children, Amy Urbanski, Abby (Kevin) Schonter and Andy (Jenny) Schonter; grandchildren, Brandon, Chad and Eric, Amanda and Adam, Ian and Amber: great-grandchildren, Dillon, Cheyenne, Jared, Jakob, Veronica and Zoey: brothers, Woodrow (Thelma) Schonter, Lester (Gaynell) Schonter; sisters, Roxanne Schonter, Melva (Joe) Cureton and Gale Borrmann, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service followed by a luncheon will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael's Archangel Catholic Church located at 420 Sandusky St, Toledo, OH 43611.
