Paul R. "Moe"



Paul R. Creutz, 83, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 4, 1931. During his childhood years at Immaculate Conception, he became an avid boxer, starting at age 6, and continuing through his high school years. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1949, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Corporal during the Korean War. After his return from Korea, he worked at Libbey-Owens-Ford, East Broadway Plant. On May 4, 1957, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Panuto, and they raised 4 children. Paul was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church since 1969. In 1981, Paul retired from Libbey-Owens-Ford after 30 years of service. Paul was a charter member of the Eastern Community YMCA since its opening in 1977. He attended the "Y" on a daily basis. He also enjoyed volunteering on the building and grounds committee, twice receiving the YMCA "Man of the Year" award. Paul also enjoyed working with handicapped children in the swimming pool. For 25 years, Paul volunteered at Mercy St. Charles Hospital as a patient transporter. Paul was an avid runner. He was one of the top runners in the area in his age bracket, competing in 10ks, half-marathons, marathons, and qualified for the Boston Marathon. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering his time working with his son Mike and the crew of Creutz Construction. Paul had a passion for music, especially for playing his harmonica and piano. He took great joy watching his grandchildren's sporting events, never missing one.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Rosemary; children, Cathy, Michael (Barbara), Robert (Marsha), Kevin (Joy) Creutz; grandchildren, PJ, Kris, Ryan, Brett, Chelsea, Connor, Erin and Kelli, and one great-granddaughter. Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (O'Connor) Creutz; grandson, Andy; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Frank Hahn.

Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday, July 6, 2014, from 2-8 p.m. where the recitation of the Rosary will be 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. in St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner St., Walbridge and where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Paul's memory are asked to consider St. Jerome's Capital Campaign, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the East YMCA Scholarship Fund. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the loving care given to Paul.
