Ralph E. Dunnigan, 85 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Friday, March 22, 2013. The son of James and Elsie (West) Dunnigan he was born June 3, 1927, in Toledo, OH. Ralph served as a cook on The U.S.S. L.S.T. 197 during WWII. He enjoyed baseball, volunteering as a coach and manager for his son's teams. He was also instrumental in forming the Bedford 3-B Baseball Umpire Association. His hobbies included woodworking, camping and hunting. Sundays were spent going to Mass followed by family outings. Ralph worked in the construction industry his entire career in order to provide for his family and retired from Rudolph-Libbe.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Clara; children, Cathleen (Charles) Shaner, Edward (Sandy) Dunnigan, James (Lynne) Dunnigan, Robert (Sue) Dunnigan, Mary (Garry) Witfoth, David (Debbie) Dunnigan, John (Elissa) Dunnigan, Kay (Robert) Van Fleteren, Brian Dunnigan, Diane (Ken) Vierling, Richard (Jodie) Dunnigan, Kelly (Terry) Pierson; 27 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, James; daughter, Jean, and grandson, Robbie.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 24 from 3 until 8 p.m. in Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 25 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Temperance, celebrated by Fr. Stephen Rooney, where he will lie in state in the Narthex after 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Military honors conducted by Lambertville VFW #9656.
