Jesus said "I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believeth thou this?" (John 11:25-26)
Richard D. Anderson, age 79, of Sylvania, believed and went to be with Jesus on Saturday, August 31, 2013. He was the son of Elmer B. and Genevieve E. (Jackman) Anderson. Richard was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He received a B.A. degree from Bowling Green State University in 1955. After some graduate study at Iowa State University, he began work as a chemist. After a few years, Richard entered the teaching field and began teaching high school math and science at Chesterfield-Dover in Fulton County, which later became part of the Evergreen School District. Richard received a M. Ed. degree in 1979 in math education from the University of Georgia. In 1979, he left the teaching profession to become a computer programmer at TrustCorp (now Key Bank) and then a programmer/analyst at Dana Computer Services maintaining the corporate payroll. Richard retired in 1996.
Richard is survived by his sister, Ramona Lee (Harold) Roe; niece, Rebecca (Jeff) Zaun, all of Sylvania, and cousin, Donna Burk, of Brooklyn, Michigan.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Duke Crawford of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Ravine Cemetery, Sylvania, Ohio.
