Richard P. "Rick"
Richard P. "Rick" Johnston, 71, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at UTMC after a long illness. He was born December 17, 1941, to James A. and Louise (McGavin) Johnston in Cleveland, OH. Rick and his family moved to Toledo when he was a child, and he graduated from St. Francis De Sales High School and the University of Notre Dame. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a member of Placers Car Club, fulfilling his passion for automobiles. Rick was an Industrial Salesman in the aluminum and zinc metal industry, selling these raw metals to foundries, automotive and die casting companies prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Society of Die Casting Engineers and Society of Automotive Engineers.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Jeffrey Richard Johnston. He is survived by his sons, Matthew and Michael Johnston, and 3 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Dowling Funeral Home, 7509 New West Road at King Road, (King Rd between Central and Sylvania Ave.) Toledo, 419-841-8111. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the
