Richard V. Riggio, age 83, of Maumee died March 20, 2014. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband and friend. Mr. Riggio served in the U.S. Army, Sergeant First Class in Korea 1948-1952, with an honorable discharge. He then attended the University of Toledo and married in 1952. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1990, where he was a Philatelic Clerk and later Stamp Machine repairs and service in Northern Ohio. A member of the Elks Lodge, he enjoyed music, movies (especially Westerns) and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye's fan. He had a wonderful sense of humor known by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by wife, Dolores; sons, Gregory and Richard.
Survived by brother, Donald (Suzanne); sons, Christopher, Nicholas (Rebecca); daughter, Toni Riggio; grandchildren, Wesley Riggio, Stephanie Genot, Kelsey Bowe, Tesla Riggio, Rachel, Ashley and Clayton Riggio, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was Papa to all of us and will be in our hearts always.
Friends and family may gather at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St, Maumee, Ohio on Monday, May 12, 2014, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 2 p.m. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee, Ohio. The family suggests memorials to be in the form of Contributions to the American Kidney Fund
