Richard "Dick" Sniegowski, age 84, of Toledo's Point Place Community, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. He was born on November 16, 1928, in Toledo, OH to Frank and Mary (Kijowski) Sniegowski Sr. A Korean War Veteran of the US Navy, Richard worked for the Sun Oil Co. as a Senior Lab Tester for 30 years, retiring in 1982, and worked in retirement for Heartland Nursing Home for over 10 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 197 and the Loyal Order of Elks Lodge 1850. Proud of his Polish heritage, Richard loved listening and dancing to Polish music. He was an avid NASCAR fan as well. He was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Grace; son, Michael, and brothers, Edwin, Raymond, Frank, John, and Daniel Sniegowski. Surviving are his children, Diann (Jeff) Robbins of Toledo, David J. (Susan) Sniegowski of Suffolk, VA and R. Thomas (Lori) Sniegowski of Perrysburg, OH; grandchildren, Steven, Ryan, Allison, Olivia, Jeffrey and Ben; and dear friend, Barbara Thomas.
Family and friends may visit on Monday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. The Lucas County Burial Corps will conclude with Military Honors in Resurrection Cemetery.
