Robert C. Sneider, age 89, passed away peacefully

at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Care Center on Thursday, November 7, 2013. He was born to Bernard and Frances (Borer) Sneider on May 12, 1924, in Toledo, OH. Bob went to St. Teresa School and had the lead in many of their operettas. He attended Central Catholic High School and was on their football team.

He served almost 30 months in the Marine Corp during WWII, and received two

purple hearts for injuries in Tarawa and Saipan. A year after Bob was discharged from the Marines, he married the love of his life, Helen Czajka, on August 31, 1946. They raised three children, Pam Kelley, Douglas Sneider, and Julie Meeker. He worked as a brick mason for his

father, several construction companies, and for the Toledo Board of Education for 33 years, retiring in 1989.

Bob and Helen spent many winters in Bonita Beach, Florida. Bob was a Cub Scout Master and a leader in the Boy Scouts. He was a life time member of CWV Post 639, lifetime member of RVYC, and formed a Breakfast Club with the Board of Education retirees. He

belonged to St. Hyacinth

Seniors. He was an avid card player playing right up to a week before he died. Bob had many hobbies, golf, fishing, boating, and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen; son, Douglas (Elaine) Sneider; daughter, Julie (Douglas) Meeker; grandchildren, Dan (Liz) Kelley, Geoff (Amanda) Wells, Robert (Aubrey) Wells, Joshua Sneider, Julie (Garrison) Moseley, Marlena Meeker, Joseph Meeker, Kayla Meeker, Justin Meeker, Carly Meeker, Leandra Meeker, and Christian Meeker; great-grandchildren, Eve and Marie Kelley, and Liam Wells; and sister, Sr. M. Joetta Sneider. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mary Alice, Bernard, Barbara, James, Richard, and Catherine; and daughter, Pamela Sneider Kelley.

Family and friends may visit Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. where members of the CWV 639 will lead a rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Funeral Services will begin at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Hyacinth Church at 10:00 a.m. The Lucas County Burial Corp will conclude with Military Honors in Calvary Cemetery.
