Roland L. "Rollie"

Roland L. "Rollie" Herdter, 91, of Toledo, died on Monday, March 10, 2014, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Toledo, OH to Hazel (Templeton) and William J. Herdter. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII; his country will forever be grateful for his service. He served as the Past President of the former Dixie Gun Club. Rollie loved woodworking and was a 'Jack of all trades' and he could fix anything.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Virginia 'Ginny' (Mierzejewski); children, Gary (Sharion) Herdter, Marlene (Brent) Ciotti, Nadine (Gordon) Schmidt, Sharlene Kerschner and Darlene (Charlie Caldwell) Herdter; sister-in-law, Luella Herdter; 7 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and extended family; and companion pet, 'Shawna.' He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Robert, and sisters, Darlene, Lois and Lee.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014, from 2-7 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611 where Memorial Service will begin that same day at 7 p.m. with grandson, Brent Marriott officiating. Interment is private. Those wishing to make a contribution in Rollie's memory are directed to Mercy St. Vincent's Medical Center, Burn Care Center 1D, 2213 Cherry St., Toledo, OH 43608.
