Pastor Sylvester Madison, 76, of Toledo Ohio passed this life on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, in his home. Pastor Madison was born January 18, 1936, in Crawfordsville, Arkansas to the late Isreal Madison Sr. and Virgil (Avant) Madison. He was married in holy matrimony to the mother of his children, Mary A. Dickey. He was a devoted family man. He joined the People's Missionary Baptist Church in 1967 and was a faithful Adult Sunday school teacher. He was ordained as a Gospel preacher in 1976 under the leadership of Pastor Alvin Curry. In 2005, Pastor Madison was called to pastor the church. He was a great leader, and promoter of peace.
Pastor Madison was employed by General Motors Powertrain for 30 years. He was a business minded person and was involved in several business ventures including Madison Brothers Delivery Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary; 1 son, Charles Logan.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Anita; 6 daughters, Renee Madison of Fort Worth, TX, Wanda Madison of Dayton, OH, Clemintine Madison, Laverne (Myron) Fuller both of Arlington, TX, and Tonielle Barton of Toledo, OH; 2 sons, Thaddeus Dickey of Fort Worth, TX, Brandon Barton of Toledo, OH; 1 sister, Annie Adams of Germantown, TN; 2 brothers, Reverend John (Willie Ann), Madison, Clemie Madison both of Memphis, TN; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Etta Key; special friends, Gerald Taylor and AT Gaston, and a host of other nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be Monday 4-6 p.m. Dale Riggs Funeral Home Chapel, with family hour Tuesday 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 12:00 noon People's Missionary Baptist Church, Elder Michael Key officiant, interment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
