MARKWOOD W. Theodore W. Theodore Markwood, 92, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully, April 26, 2012, at Swan Creek Retirement Village, where he lived for the past 4 years. Born August 7, 1919, in Toledo, to Wilbur and Eva Markwood. Ted graduated from Libbey High School, where he met his beloved wife of 68 years, Margaret. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Toledo in 1941, and earned his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1944. Ted practiced law with several firms before forming Markwood and Markwood Co. LPA with his son James, with whom he had the blessed opportunity to spend the majority of his career. He was the chairman of the board of Ronfeldt Association, and also served as a Federal bailiff, U.S. District Court under Judge Frank Kloeb. Some of his professional organizations included a 67 year membership with the Toledo Bar Association, Lucas County Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and Junior Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President in 1950. Gracious and kind, Ted embodied the essence of his faith to all he encountered. He had a passion for history, learning, Scripture, and all things University of Michigan. Ted unconditionally loved his family and demonstrated the teachings of Christ to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church in Holland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret (McAllister); son, Jim, and siblings, Myron Textor, DO and Patsy Markwood. He is survived by his sons, Theodore and Richard (Shannon Sutherland); daughter-in-law, Lois, and former daughters-in-law, Carol Gelacek and Sherrie Markwood. He is also survived by grandchildren, Christopher Markwood, Amanda (Jacob) Tebbe, Julie (Sean) Miller, Jill (Mathew) Schroeder, Jennifer (Timothy) Harris, Sarah and Laura Markwood, Liam and Mcallister Markwood, and Jacob Lucente, as well as great-grandchildren, Megan and Collin Miller, Paige Schroeder, and Reu Harris. Special thanks go to Samantha Habusta and Margaret Zatko, to Senior Independence Hospice, and to the staff of Swan Creek for their love and care. A memorial service will be held at the Christian Fellowship Church, 6711 Pilliod, on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Interment is private for the family at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of a contribution to the Toledo Christian School, 2303 Brookford Dr., Toledo, Ohio 43614, or to Senior Independence Hospice.
