Wayne Harding



Wayne Harding Fisher, 89, died December 10, 2013, at his home. He was born September 30, 1924, in Toledo, OH to Jesse Roy and Bessie (Harding) Fisher. Wayne served for 3 years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Neapolis Church of Christ, where he was a former deacon and a chairman for the new education wing. Wayne organized the Neapolis Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1952 and was elected the first Fire Chief. He was a member of the Whitehouse American Legion Post #384 and the Grand Rapids Masonic Lodge #289.

Wayne owned and operated a fuel oil and propane distributorship in Neapolis for 41 years. First with his father, and then forming Fisher Oil & Gas Company with his wife, Joan. He retired in 1987.

When his boys were in their youth, Wayne was active as a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed coaching little league. He took many deer hunting trips to Canada, the UP, and out West. He loved being outdoors, snowmobiling, fishing trips, hunting and raising Beagles. He finished 17 field champions with Joan and his grandsons. He spent many happy years at Lake George, IN, a family get-away.

He married Joan (Sprink) July 5, 1946, in Whitehouse, OH. She preceded him in death May 24, 2000. Survivors include children, Gil (Gail) Fisher of Neapolis, OH, Peggy (Bob) Behrendt of Monroe, MI, and Jim Fisher of Whitehouse, OH; grandchildren, Rob, Becky, Lance and Laurel, and sister, Bonnie Rupp of Whitehouse, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, E. June Hulsebus.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2013, from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, Whitehouse, OH. A Fireman's Service will take place at 5:15 p.m.

Funeral Services will be Monday, December 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Neapolis Church of Christ with Pastor Mike George officiating.

Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with

military honors.
