William "Bill" Ceparski, 92, of Rossford, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Ridgewood Manor.
Bill, the youngest of 6 children, was born on March 15, 1920, in Rossford, Ohio to Stephen and Mary (Malik) Ceparski. As a young man, Bill joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in Libby, Montana, clearing trails in a national forest there. Bill often spoke fondly of his time in Montana, enjoying the natural beauty of it all.
During World War II, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving on the U.S.S. Sheliak, an attack cargo ship, and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of operation.
Back home, Bill worked at the L.O.F. Glass Co., retiring in 1976. Along with his wife, Josephine, they traveled the country, exploring 48 states along the way. Besides travel, Bill enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Bill was a proud member of the Rossford American Legion Post 533 in Rossford, as well as a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Josephine; infant son, William; brothers, John, Walter, and Joe Ceparski, and his sisters Sadie Przybyl and Stella Ceparski. Surviving are his daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Schaffer; grandsons, Christopher and David, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Ceparski, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church where the family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery.
