William Robert "Bob"

William Robert "Bob" McLennan was born June 28, 1920, in Tedrow, Ohio to William and Rosie Pearl (Monroe) McLennan. He passed peacefully on March 6, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo Branch.

Bob graduated from Libbey High School in 1938. He served in the United States Navy from May 27, 1944, to October 23, 1945, as a Motor Machinist 3rd Class aboard the submarine U.S.S. Conger in Key West, Florida. He worked for the New York Central Railroad, the United States Postal Service, and retired on August 1, 1989 from Champion Spark Plug, where he was a Journeyman Machine Repairman.

Bob liked to golf, bowl and was an avid reader. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, often planning parties and attending social events. He started walking at Franklin Park Mall when he retired, where he was known as "Mayor of the Mall". He also liked to travel and had been to 48 States.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Florence; children, Michael McLennan, Judith (Bill) Bolander, Sally (Dennis) Tavis, Susan (Gary) Brill; stepchildren, Lisa (Mike) Habbe, Barbara Botaine, and Randy Portala. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sean McLennan, Cindy (John) Konrad, Bruce (Janet) Hoyt, Matt Fontaine, Misty (Shawn) Kane, Jennifer Bige, Audrey Bige, Jason Fisher, Jennifer Fisher-Rhonehouse; great-grandchildren, Melanie, Brad, Nick (Laura), Kelly, Brooklyn, Mari (Patrick), Brandon, Zanden; great-great-grandchildren, Archer and Willow.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Vern McLennan; stepdaughter, Sandra Portala; granddaughter, Robin Fontaine; his parents; brothers, Frank, Richard, John and sisters, Lorna and Jeanette.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2014, from 1-3 p.m. with services from 3-4 p.m. at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. Toledo, OH.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
