Dr. William Robert, M.D

Dr. William Robert Stine, M.D., passed away on December 24, 2012, in Key West, Florida.

He was born to Robert and Ruth Stine on January 16, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio. Surviving are his son, Bill Stine, Key West; daughter, Jennifer Ison and son-in-law, Jim, Rochester, MI; his sister, Susan Goodman, Sylvania, Ohio; two grandchildren, Alexander and Rowan Ison, Rochester, MI; two nieces, Julie Goodman and Lisa Simon, New York, and significant other, Susan Dyck, Port Huron, MI.

Bill graduated from Libbey High School in 1957 where he excelled in sports and academics. He was president of the student council and co-captain of the football team. He was nominated to the Libbey High School Hall of Fame in 2006.

He attended the University of Michigan on an academic and sports scholarship. He played varsity football as defensive end and tackle for four years and also played for the Michigan Raiders on the defensive unit. During this time he was a pre-med student.

He married his high school sweetheart, Ann Luscombe, Toledo, while they were attending the University of Michigan. Bill attended the University of Michigan Medical School for four years (1966) and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio for an internship at Cincinnati General Hospital. He then spent two years in the Navy at Great Lakes, Illinois as a General Medical Officer during the Vietnam War (1967-1969).

After military service, Bill did his residency in Radiology and Radiation Therapy at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI, where he was chief resident his third year. In 1972 he went into practice as a partner with X Ray Associates of Port Huron, MI.

After retiring from practice in Port Huron he moved to Key West, Florida where he worked locums for the Navy at various naval hospitals in the South along with several locums for X Ray Associates in Port Huron. He enjoyed fishing, diving and snorkeling.

There is no service planned at this time. In Bill's memory, donations may be made to the or the National Parkinson Foundation.
