Walter Fix Obituary
Walter E. WWII Veteran POW 8/13/1918 - 9/12/2015
Walter Fix, of Rossford, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2015, under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a short illness. He was born to August and Catherine Fix in Irwin, PA on August 13, 1918. Walter was a World War Two veteran. He served with the ninth infantry division in Africa, Sicily, France, and Belgium. He was a prisoner of war in Germany for nine months. He was awarded a silver star, five bronze stars and two presidential unit citations. He worked 44 years for Libbey Owens Ford where he was one of three men who developed tooling used in the very first bending of glass for General Motors cars. He loved golfing, bowling, and working out at the Rossford Recreation Center.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; his daughter, Judith, and his brothers, Henry, Alfred, Charles, Joseph, Julius, Edward, and William. He is loved and missed by his son, David (Alayne) Fix; son-in-law, Michael Romanowicz; grandchildren, Amanda Fix, Melissa (Tony) Jaksetic, Michael (Molly) Romanowicz, and great-grandchildren, Anne, Michael, James, and Judea.
The funeral service will be private and he will rest in peace in Highland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests any donation to support Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Wounded Warrior Project. Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family at:

Anne and Walter were friends of my parents many years ago. they met through Knights of Columbus and participated in many things together. Anne was a Columbiette with my Mom and Walter Bowled with my Dad at Rossford lanes. I remember their names vividly as my folks spoke of them often. You were blessed to have Walter a long time. My dad Tom Ryan died in 1970. Mary Ellen died in 2002. God keep step with you and May your Dad rest in Peace. Marilyn Ryan Errington
