Anthony Cory "Mike" Allexander We celebrate the life of Mike Allexander and honor his passing. Mike was born as Daryl Ray Alford in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Dec. 10, 1941. He was a gifted singer and served in the Army and National Guard. He was very proud of his military service and was a great advocate for vets. He moved to Tacoma in 2011. In 2012, Mike devoted himself to Organizing for America, the Obama campaign. Everyone loved his dedication, his gentle spirit, and his passionate support of candidates he believed in, such as President Obama, Jay Inslee, Patty Murray, and Derek Kilmer. He viewed the results of the election as his legacy, knowing that it will benefit generations still to come. After the campaign ended, his body gave out, even though he kept his good spirits. He passed quietly on Oct. 16, 2013 while in the loving care of Franciscan Hospice House. A memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at the IBEW Hall, 3049 S. 36th St., Tacoma, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, Oct. 26. Please see the full obituary at www.edwardsmemorial.com.
