Harry Hanson Harry Christian Hanson was born January 4, 1929 in Hanford, CA, and passed away peacefully at home November 7, 2013. He joined the Air Force in February of 1948, and was honorably discharged in 1950 at Moses Lake, WA. Harry worked for Foster & Kiezer billboard posting before joining the Tacoma Police Department on July 16, 1956. He loved police work, and received numerous awards for service above and beyond expectations for more than 27 years. Retiring in January of 1984, he moved to Royal City, WA to farm, supplementing his farming with private investigating. After a few years of farming, he joined the Grant County Prosecutor's office as an Investigator. He retired for a second time in January of 1999, returning to University Place. He spent the last years assisting his wife Judy with her tax business. Harry was a member of various community groups, including the Retired Tacoma Police Officers, Tacoma Elks Lodge, American Legion Doughboy Memorial Post 138, Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club, and the NRA. He is survived by his wife Judy, son Mitchell, daughter Katherine (Wes), stepchildren John Prunty (Marcia), Stefanie Storholt (Joe), and Deborah Sterbick (Dave), 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at New Tacoma Funeral Home on Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 4pm to 7pm. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 15, 2013 at New Tacoma's Chambers Creek Chapel in University Place, with graveside and reception following. Guestbook at www.newtacoma.com
