Kathy Navarra Garvin Age 45, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away Sunday, June 15th, 2014. Kathy was born May 2nd, 1969 in Newport Beach, California to Joe and Barbara Navarra as the third of their three children. She graduated from Chatfield High School in Littleton, Colorado and earned her degree in Business from Barnes Business College while raising her daughter Jessie. After graduating, she began a career as an Administrative Assistant. She moved to Washington State with her family in 1998. Kathy then dedicated 15 years working within various school districts, with the last seven years being devoted to the Clover Park School District. She recently pursued a longstanding dream and returned to school, earning a degree in Human Resources from the University of Washington. This accomplishment was quickly followed by a job offer with the Department of Corrections, which she ecstatically accepted. Kathy's life was significantly impacted by her loving and supportive friendships with Zach Ford, Shelly Maas, Steve Woinowsky, Grant Carroll, and many more. Kathy married the love of her life, Anna Garvin, on October 21st, 2008 in Olympia, Washington. Together, they attended New Heart Church in Tacoma. Kathy always found peace in visiting the ocean and wrote beautiful poetry. She enjoyed overnight trips and loved listening to Tom Petty, Blue October, and inspirational CDs made by her brother Ken. Her family and friends will remember Kathy for her loving heart, sense of humor, beauty, thoughtfulness, and dedication. Her radiant smile and contagious laugh will be forever missed by those closest to her. Kathy will live on through her daughter Jessie Davis, her mother Barbara Ferris, her father Joseph Navarra, her sister Jennifer Tomajko, her brother Kenneth Navarra, and her wife, Anna Garvin. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 21st, at Mountain View Funeral Home.
