Kenneth John Warden Kenneth John Warden was born August 17, 1926 in Detroit, MI, and passed away August 31, 2013 in University Place, WA. He entered the Navy at 17 and was in the Pacific battles of World War II. He also fought later in Korea. His Navy career led him to two tours in Vietnam, the first as an Executive Officer, the second as the Captain of an LST in the Mekong Delta; it was during his second tour that his ship received the Presidential Unit Citation and Cdr. Warden received the Bronze Star. Dad retired in 1976 after his dream command of a destroyer in Tacoma, WA. He went on to teach, and then became the director of Trend Business College in Olympia, WA while obtaining his MBA at PLU. Dad loved fishing and reading; he wanted very much to write the great American novel. He had a great wit while being a quiet and decent man. He will be greatly missed by those he left behind: his beloved, "flower of Panama," Ileana Warden, his three daughters, Gilda Warden, Arlene Warden (Lorie), and Gig Zenk; his grandson, Tomas Warden Zenk; his brother, Larry Wordon (Bonnie); brother-in-law, Mario Galli; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Nellie Worden; his brother, Bob; sisters Shirley Kennedy and Barbara Galli; and his beloved mother-in-law, Gilda Paredes. Graveside service with full military honors will be at New Tacoma Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at 10a.m. Our gratitude to Hermie's AFH, St. Joseph Hospital, and the Franciscan Hospice House.
