Marjorie Cook Our dearly beloved Marjorie Cochrane Cook of Gig Harbor went home to be with Jesus at age 94 on May 21, 2014. Born in Ontario, CA on April 21, 1920, the daughter of a Free Methodist minister and a teacher, she attended Los Angeles Pacific College and graduated from Seattle Pacific College (University). She was an elementary school teacher for 14 years and a public school librarian for eight years, mostly in the Milton/Fife School District. She set up and administered two public school libraries and two church libraries. She also helped renovate and update two libraries in Manila, the Philippines. Marjorie started writing in college and continued with numerous publications, articles and books. She loved knitting and was an avid reader. She attended Harbor Covenant church in Gig Harbor, where she served in many ways and led a women's Bible study for 30 years. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harlow Cook, her three daughters, Marilee Shanor and Kris Nelson (David) of Gig Harbor, and Karen Laatz of Camarillo, CA, her brother Gordon Cochrane (JoAnn) of Gig Harbor, her seven grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. The celebration of her life will take place on June 12 at 6:30 pm at Harbor Covenant Church. Her burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, through the church, for her grandchildren Matt and Chelsea Connor, missionaries in Ambon, Indonesia.
