Raymond "Ray" C. Coyne Age 83 of Buckley, died July 11, 2013 in Puyallup. He was born Aug. 13, 1929 to Martin E. & Alice J. (Goforth) Coyne in Butte, MT. The family moved to Idaho in 1934 & in 1940 they moved to Seattle, ending up in Buckley in 1943 where Ray graduated from the Buckley High School in 1947. Ray served in the US Navy during the Korean War, August 1948 to 1953. September 14, 1951 Ray married his high school sweetheart, Inez Thieman in Sumner. After serving in the Navy, Ray returned to Buckley & entered Tacoma Vocational School in November 1953 in pre-apprentice Sheet Metal Class. After graduation he became employed as a Sheet Metal apprentice in October 1954, he joined the Tacoma Sheet Metal Workers Union in April 1959 as a Journeyman. Ray worked for many sheet metal shops in the Tacoma area before becoming the Sheet Metal Apprenticeship Instructor at Tacoma Vocational School. He later became the Supervisor of Apprenticeship training at the school and retired in 1990. He served as the Apprenticeship Coordinator for the Automotive Machinist program from 1991 to 1995. He was very proud of his Union affiliation and remained a member in good standing until his death. Ray was a member of St. Aloysius Church in Buckley, Marion Grange for over 60 years. He was a member of the Golden Age Eagle F.O.E. 1387 in Buckley & also a dual member of Wilkeson F.O. E. 1409, he was a trustee for many years & served 2 terms as a worthy President. Ray was an avid WSU Cougar football and basketball fan, he enjoyed fishing especially at Westport and enjoyed golf. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Inez of 61+ years; son, Danny (Darci) Coyne of Olympia, daughters, Rhonda (Gerald) Dunlap of Roseburg, OR & Teri (David) Koch of Sumner; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren & sister, Alice (Gerald) Alfano of Buckley. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews & cousins locally & Butte, MT. He is preceded in death by his brother, William Coyne at the young age of 42 and his parents, Martin & Alice Coyne. A Funeral Mass will be, Wed., July 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1614 Farrelly St., Enumclaw, WA 98022 with burial at the Buckley City Cemetery.
