Ronald D. Berry Ronald D. Berry went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on April 5, 2014. Ron was born in Des Lacs, ND on December 16, 1918 to Leroy and Ida Berry. His family moved to Puyallup, WA in the 1930s, and Ron graduated from Puyallup High School in 1937. He married Jessie Raudebaugh on December 8, 1938. Ron started working for the Puyallup Dairy as a young man, with an interruption (1944 - 45) when he joined the U.S. Army, serving as a member of a tank company in the liberation of Europe. He returned to Puyallup after the war and resumed his employment at the dairy. He and Jessie, along with daughter Carol Ann, moved to the Gig Harbor area in 1955 and built a home on Wollochet Bay. Through the 1950s and 60s Ron was employed by the Buchan Bakery (now Oroweat) in Tacoma. Ron later worked as a carpenter at the Western Washington State Fair. In 1975 Ron and Jessie moved to a new home on Point Richmond Beach Road north of Gig Harbor on Colvos Passage. They greatly enjoyed their retirement years watching nature through their living room windows. Jessie predeceased her husband in 2006. Ron is survived by his daughter Carol Ann Johnson (Jim), sister Dorothy Snider, grandchildren Kevin Johnson (June) of Medina, WA, Kerry Hinsch (Scott) of Sammamish, WA, and Tim Johnson of Los Alamos, NM, and seven great grandchildren. Ron was a kind and gentle husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, loved by his family, and will be greatly missed. Ron was lovingly cared for by Cottesmore of Life Care in Gig Harbor for a number years before his passing; their acts of kindness have been a distinct blessing to our family. In lieu of flowers, or if you wish to honor Ronald's memory, you may make a donation to Cottesmore Residence Fund, 2909 14th Ave NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98335.
