Ronald B. Blatman September 30, 1933- June 17, 2014 After a brief illness, Ron rejoined his wife of 51 years, Betty. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Ron left the bright lights of the big city to join the US Air Force, where he served 22 years, taking his family in tow around the world. Ron moved on to his second career, retiring to Lakewood, WA, where he worked first for the US Bureau of Prisons and then Washington State Department of Corrections at McNeil Island for 23 years. After his second retirement he volunteered for the USO at McChord Air Force Base and was an Elder at Lakewood Presbyterian Church. Ron was also a Freemason. Ron served as a mentor, not only to his children and grandchildren, but to the many men and women he came in contact with over the years during his Air Force and Department of Corrections career. Ron is a Charter Member of the US Air Force Security Forces Association and served as Vice President of the local Chapter. His children will carry on his legacy: Mike (Melanie) Blatman, Karen (Richard) Blatman-Byers, Mark (Jesse) Blatman, and Scott Blatman. G-pa will be missed by his eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Katie, Allyson, Matthew, Stephanie, Andy, Jeremy, and Adam. Services will be Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 10:30 AM at Lakewood Presbyterian Church, 8601 104th St. SW, Lakewood, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the USO in support of our service members. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
