Donald R. Gallardo Our hearts are broken and Heaven has received an Angel. On January 18, 2013 God called Donald Rudolph Gallardo home. Never has our earth known such a special man. He was born in Alamosa, Colorado in 1929. Donald had many friends, family, and no strangers. He was affectionately known as Dad, Uncle Don, Grampy, Gramps, Big Grandpa, and Joe Paterno. Donald cherished life and those who lived around him. He is survived by his wife Alice; daughters, Mary Anne (Tony) and Bridgette; sons, Donald Jr (Annette), Joseph, Dennis, Andrew; nephew, Fred (Nancy) Ybrarra; as well as his 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Survived by sisters, Stella Barela, Theresa Vigil (Victor), and Henrietta Mullen (Bob). He was preceded in death by sister Adeline Lyles. Donald proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He loved family, gardening, prospecting and the outdoors. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be made to the Benefit for Mike: Account # 1306816 at Pima Federal Credit Union, PO Box 50267, Tucson, AZ 85703. The Benefit for Mike is providing assistance to Don's grandson who suffers from ALS as well as money for research for ALS. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel) 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 9:00 a.m. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Family and friends may express their condolences by visiting
