Fred Franklin Forbes 77, passed away December 27, 2012. Born October 20, 1935 in Minneapolis and graduating with an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota, he came to Tucson in 1963. Fred worked on and with a number of large telescopes at sites including the Catalinas, Chile, Baja, Hawaii, and Kitt Peak. He built a geodesic dome house, sang in the opera chorus, and got a Masters degree in Art History. Fred was preceded in death by second wife Grace. He is survived by first wife Joan, mother of Lynn, Scott, James, David and grandmother of Austin, Andrew, Addison, Steve, Kevin, Gary, Henry, and Linus; and by Lucie, step-mother to Grace's daughter Kate. In lieu of flowers donations to the Parkinson's Foundation are welcome. A memorial will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Flandrau Planetarium at 5:00pm.
