Hubert "Hugh" Austin

Hubert "Hugh" Austin was born in Nampa, Idaho on March 15, 1922 to George and Mabel Hubert Austin. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1953, with a B.S in Animal Science and worked for 30 years with the U.S.D.A in Disease Control as a livestock inspector. Hugh served for 3 ½ years during World War II as a bombardier in the Nary Air Corps. His squadron received the distinguished flying cross and seven air medals. Hugh and Jeannette Edwards were married June 14, 1969 in Tucson, Arizona. Jeannette passed away April 12, 2013. Hugh grew up on a farm in Idaho and loved all aspects of nature. He and Jeanette traveled extensively including every state in the U.S as well as foreign countries. They stayed in state and federal parks whenever possible where natural beauty abounded. Hugh never knew a stranger in a campground and always reached out to new people in their Lutheran church. He loved their church home. Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette; sisters, Ruth (Frank) Pledger and Shirley Fry. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday February 27, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church, 8625 E. Tanque Verde Road. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the or Tanque Verde Lutheran Church. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL.
