LYTLE, Raymond H., 71, of Tucson, Arizona, formally of Champaign, Illinois, peacefully passed away on April 10, 2014 at 7:45 p.m. in Tucson, Arizona with his family by his side. Ray was born on November 28, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to parents, Arthur and Alice (Winters) Lytle. Surviving is his wife, Sally; two boys, Patrick Lytle (Lindsay) and Justin Lytle (Elif); daughter, Jessica Hand and grandsons, Nathan and Nolan Lytle. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steven. His early years were spent in Framingham, Mass. where he was part of the historic Framingham Heart Study. His family returned to the Chicago area and lived in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Oriskany before attending attending the University of Illinois where he received his Masters of Architecture. Ray taught Architecture at the University of Illinois and was part of the Olson Lytle Architecture Firm. He was very active in the Champaign-Urbana community. His many involvements included membership in Champaign West Rotary, PACA, and the Wilbur Mansion restoration committee. He was well known for his creativity and artistic ability. His renderings and graphic designs are still being used in the Champaign-Urbana area. Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, photography, and relaxing on the porch. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He will be forever remembered by his loved ones. In lieu of expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Champaign West Rotary.
