ZOBEL, Raymond L., 87, was born January 18, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI and became an outstanding scholar and athlete, holding state sports records at Bay View High and University of Wisconsin, Madison. He graduated in 1946 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a commission in the Navy. After seven years active and 17 years reserve he retired as a Commander. His engineering skills lead him to South Milwaukee, WI, San Fernando Valley, CA and Houston, TX. He was an active member of his communities, the Republican Party and many charities. Ray enjoyed theater and musical events and was always up for a visit to historical and natural scenic locations. Ray died February 16, 2013 from a vehicle accident after living in Saddlebrooke, AZ for three years. His wife, Delores (Novak) died in 2003. He is survived by sons, Eric (Connie) of Saddlebrooke, AZ and Kurt (Carolyn) of Banning, CA; daughter, Alene (Mike) Fields of Roundrock, TX; brother, Cliff (Judy) of Milwaukee, WI; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. No services are scheduled, his ashes will be returned to Texas for a private ceremony.
