Dr. Robert E. Calmes went to be with our Lord on July 20, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ann; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Samaniego and granddaughter, Christina Tornabene. Robert was born in Sterling, Colorado on March 9, 1924. He served in the US Navy during World War II and later earned a doctorate in educational psychology at the University of Denver. In 1958, Robert came to the University of Arizona as an assistant professor. He taught for 28 years, retiring as Professor Emeritus in College of Education. Robert then completed a post-doctoral study at Cambridge University in England and lectured all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. Robert earned many awards including the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Arizona. He was a member of the American Psychology Association as well as many other related organizations. Robert was the past president of the Skyline Country Club, member of Catalina Methodist Church, served on the board of Salpointe High School and the advisory board of the Salvation Army. He lectured frequently on drugs, alcohol and anger management. After retiring, Robert and Mary Ann traveled the world together. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel. Reception to follow.
