WALESKA, Ga. Donald Albert DaLee, age 77, of Waleska, Ga. passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Northside Drive Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga. with Rev. Dr. James Lamkin officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. Mr. DaLee will lie-in-state at the church on Saturday from 12 noon until the funeral hour and the family will receive visitors at that time.

Mr. DaLee was born September 30, 1936 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late William Wightman DaLee, Sr. and Annie Lula Upchurch DaLee. Don was an Eagle Scout and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1954, where he was the vice president of his senior class. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1964, where he was awarded the American Spirit Honor Medal. Don received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alabama in 1962 with a major in Commercial Art. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and the ODK Honor Society. He was also the editor of Alabama's college magazine. Don was an artist and photographer who owned and operated the graphic design firm Penmark, Inc. for over 30 years. He was also a very talented musician, playing guitar and singing with bands during college and playing music with family and friends throughout his life. He was a member and active deacon at Northside Drive Baptist Church during the 70's. He was active his entire life in sports, was an avid bass fisherman and an outstanding watercolor artist. He loved watching the University of Alabama play football.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Comella Hinton DaLee of Waleska, Ga.; children, Comella Dianne DaLee of Mableton, Ga. and Donald Albert DaLee, Jr. (Wanda) of Safety Harbor, Fla.; siblings, Dora Anne DaLee Dennard of Atlanta, Ga. and William Wightman DaLee, Jr. (Joan) of Birmingham, Ala; grandchildren, Alissa DaLee Brock (Andrew), Robert Michael DaLee and Anna Janina DaLee; great-grandchildren, Trisha Brock and Donald Brock; and several nieces and nephews.
