TUSCALOOSA Douglas P.J. Bean, age 29, of Tuscaloosa, died May 6, 2012, as the result of drowning in Memorial Creek in Madison, S.D. A private Funeral Mass will be held at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Madison, S.D. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Flandreau, S.D. with Weiland Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

He was born January 30, 1983, in Mitchell, S.D. to Douglas and Margaret (Green) Bean.
He is survived by his parents of Madison, S.D.; one brother, Jesse of Madison, S.D.; one sister, Nicky of Wasilla, Alaska; his grandmothers, Bonnie Eikmeier (Lowell) of Flandreau, S.D. and Jeanne Green of Madison, S.D.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He grew up in Wasilla, Alaska, graduating from Wasilla High School in 2001. He received a bachelor's degree in fire service administration from Western Oregon University and a degree in paramedicine from the University of Alaska Anchorage. He worked as a paramedic and fire fighter in Tuscaloosa since 2006. He recently had been accepted to Physicians Assistant School at the University of South Dakota.
