SHALIMAR, Fla. Samuel Jack Colburn, age 69, of Shalimar, Fla., passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at his home.

He was born May 28, 1943, in Northport, Alabama to Samuel R. Colburn and Effie Mae Barger. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was retired from Vitro/BAE after 40 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #235 and the 40/8. He loved old country music, drinking, camping, and telling stories at Thursday's meeting of the minds with Doug Blount.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Nell Glass, Ilene Still, Iris Dollar, Ruby Jackson, Marie Wheat, and Faye Evans; brother, Edward Colburn; and son, Samuel P. Heavy Colburn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sally McEwen Colburn; daughter, Barbara Roberts Bellot (Don); son, Michael Colburn; grandchildren, Cody, Delaney and Theda Roberts; and sisters, Coralee Turner, Eunice Trull and Lois Whitt.
Memorial services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547. Internment took place at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
