MILLPORT Willard Barksdale Robinson, age 86, died March 27, 2013, at Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care Facility. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matthew Fancher officiating. Burial will follow in Millport City Cemetery with Dowdle Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert (Shade) and Mattie Farley Robinson; his foster parents, Renzo F. and Alma Propst Odom; and all his siblings.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Doris Simmons Robinson, his son, Dale Odom Robinson Sr. (Susan), his daughter, Carolyn Robinson; grandchildren, Nicki Wilson Lamb (Neal), Barry Wilson (Summer), Dale Odom Robinson, Jr. (Sandy); great-grandchildren, Trent Wilson, Caroline Wilson, Colton Lamb, Carley Lamb and Taylor Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A lifelong resident of Millport, he was a graduate of Millport High School, attended the University of Alabama and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. As a Veteran of World War II, he served in the Army in the Philippines. He worked as a partner in R.F. Odom & Sons. He served as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 48 for many years. A stellar athlete, he was inducted into the Millport Sports Hall of Fame and the Lamar County Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid reader. He loved the outdoors, whether it was the woods, Smith Lake or the beach and Crimson Tide football. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Neal Lamb, Ricky Mayers, Mac Mayers, Lynn Jordan, Danny Blakeney, Earl Shaw and John Shanklin.
Honorary pallbearers are his former members of Boy Scout Troop 48, the Senior Care Staff at Pickens County Medical Center, Dr. Neal Honea, the FMC Long Term Care Facility Staff, the Springhill Baptist Church family, and the South Lamar Rescue Squad.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Springhill Baptist Church Building Fund.
