Ako Baye Drexall Stafford Obituary
Age 38, of Corvallis, Oregon Passed Away Unexpectedly On October 30, 2010. He grew up in Shoreview, MN and was a 1990 graduate of St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, MN. He attended University of Maine, where he played football and graduated with a B.S. He received his Master's Degree from Oregon State Univ. He served as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division in Fayetteville, NC. Upon his honorable discharge, he held several counseling management positions in the athletic departments at the University of Maine, Louisiana State University, and Oregon State University. Those who knew him remember him fondly for his love of all people and outstanding leadership. He had great love for his family and was always at his best when he was helping others. Ako leaves behind his parents, Pompey and Florence Stafford of Shoreview; Tamara, his wife of 14 years; daughters, Kaiya Stafford and Jadyn Stafford; brother, Abebi (Elizabeth) Stafford of Alexandria, VA; sister, Beulah (Peaches) Shaw (Charles) of Charlotte, NC; and a host of relatives and friends from across the country. A Memorial and Life Celebration will be held at 11:00am-12:30pm on Friday, 11/19/2010 at Progressive Baptist Church, St. Paul. Interment is at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
