Age 88 of Oak Park Heights, MN Passed away peacefully on October 7, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty. Dale was a graduate of Central High School in St. Paul where he met his future wife. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Educated as a draftsman, Dale started and ended his career working for Donaldson Company, Inc. in Bloomington, MN. After 39 years, he retired from the company as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. During his time at Donaldson Co. Inc., he developed 2 patents. Dale lived by his motto, "church, children and charity." He was an astute gardener, raising roses, green plants, and flowers for church celebrations at Easter and Christmas. Dale learned his hobby from his father and passed along his love of gardening to his children and grandchildren. He spent many hours in his greenhouse showing the grandchildren "how it was done." He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Dale enjoyed watching hockey, baseball, tennis and football. He especially liked to watch the Gopher hockey team. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Ole Anderson, two brothers: Quentin and Ralph; a sister-in-law, Florence; nephew, Dale; and son, Craig. He is survived by daughter, Gale (Bashar), Kent (Cheryl), and Christopher (Julie) and daughter-in-law, Kathie; brother, Elwood (Judy); sister-in-law, Astrid; 10 loving grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Mahtomedi, MN will be scheduled in the near future. Further details are pending. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Second Harvest Heartland, Hazelden Foundation or St. Andrews Lutheran Church.

We don't want to mourn, that we lost them, but be thankful, that we had them, lo, still have them. For whoever returns home to the Lord, stays in God's family; they just preceded us [Hieronymus].
Dale, I am glad we met and I will miss you.

I worked for Dale many years ago and Donaldson and thought he was wise and wonderful! He always talked about the "test of reasonableness." He is remembered fondly by me and many many others.
