Donald M. MALLINGER Obituary
Former High School Teacher and West St. Paul City Councilman Age 83, of West St. Paul. Died peacefully on May 10, 2014. A devout Catholic, Don professed The Eucharist as the center of his life. A 1948 graduate of Humboldt High School, he was proud of his West Side roots. He retired from the St. Paul School District after a 33 year teaching career, and was an active alumnus of Winona State University. Don served 5 years in the Navy during the Korean War. Preceded in death by mother, Lillian; father, DeLyle; and step-mother, Mayme. Survived by beloved wife of 59 years, Marie (nee Hau); brother, James (Carol); children, Michael (Christi), Mary (Rich) Lawrence, Mark (Christine), Peter (Lynn), and Patrick (Tamara); grandchildren, Rachel, Becky, Angie, Jessie, Nicholas, Mary Madeline, Olivia, Leah, Kenny, Elyse, Alex, Luke, Matthew, Madeline; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Rowan, Lenora, and Kaiden; and many loving nieces, nephews and Godchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday, May 15th at the CHURCH OF ST. JOSEPH, 1154 Seminole Ave, WSP. Visitation 5-8 PM Wednesday at KLECATSKY & SONS WEST CHAPEL, 1051 So. Robert St., WSP (651-457-6200); and 1 hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Newman Center, Winona or St. Joseph's Pastoral Care.
