Duane J. LASESKI Obituary
Age 85, of Forest Lake Died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Birchwood Health Care Center after a period of declining health. Duane, or "Dewey" as he was known to many, was born in Little Falls, Minn., on Feb. 3, 1927, to Frank and Esther (Krause) Laseski. He married Rosemary R. Niedzielski on Sept. 5, 1951. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Forest Lake. Surviving are his devoted wife and four daughters: Ruth Laseski (Sandro Serra) of Bellaire, Texas; Mary Miller of Bountiful, Utah; Carol Boston (Rob) of Silver Spring, Md., and Barbara Ness (Randy) of Inver Grove Heights, Minn. He is also survived by a sister, Gerry Reaser of Little Falls, Minn., a brother Wes of Edina, Minn., and nine grandchildren: Annie Serra, Ellie Serra, Laura Hancock, Julianne Hancock, Michelle Goeppinger (Sam), Claire Boston, Paul Boston, Riley Ness and Olivia Ness. Duane was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who was stationed in Florida between August 1945 and July 1946. After taking business courses at St. Cloud State, he spent the early years of his career in a variety of sales and collections positions. In 1969, Duane left an executive position at a Twin Cities molding company to lead production control at Plastech Corporation, headquartered in Rush City, Minn. Duane served capably in a number of management positions at Plastech, retiring as vice president of administration in 1990. He later operated his own small plastic materials business known as DL Specialties. Duane enjoyed bicycling, card games and following Minnesota professional sports, especially the Timberwolves and the Twins. He also enjoyed a good bowl of ice cream. Friends will be received Monday, Oct 29, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Dr., Forest Lake, where a wake service will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Oct 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Dr., Forest Lake.
