Age 71, of Arden Hills died in peace at home on April 25, 2014 after his stubborn fight with cancer and surrounded by loving family. Gordy was born on March 25, 1943 to Verna Martin and Gordon Martin, Sr. He grew up in the Swede Hollow neighborhood of St. Paul (and later Maplewood) with siblings Judy, Linda, and Steve. He graduated from North High School and the
University of Minnesota
. In 1966, Gordy met the love of his life Jewell Perry, a nursing student at the Withrow Ballroom, and they married in 1967. Gordy worked as a 3M engineer for 32 years and also served in the National Guard. Gordy and Jewell raised a family in Arden Hills (Pat, Julie, and Dan), and Gordy was passionate about family, nature, hard work, never quitting, fishing, hockey, and spending time at the cabin. Gordy is survived by wife Jewell; children Pat (Kelli), Julie Cashin (John), and Dan (Molly); 10 grandchildren (Katie, Breanna, Carver, Max, Mackenzie, Jack, Sean, Avery, Olivia, and Sophie); sister Judy Gerten (John); sister-in-law Ida Adair (Clark); brother-in-law Roger Sinn; and many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded by his parents and siblings Linda and Steve. Pojken is now with the Lord. Peace.
