Gordon T. BRANDSNESS Obituary
Age 84 ~ Beloved Father and Long-time Resident of White Bear Lake Passed away peacefully on July 26, 2014, in Minneapolis. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Witherspoon Brandsness and is survived by children Karen Crofton (Steve) of Phoenix, Julie Brandsness (Rick Griese) of Seattle, and Bruce Brandsness of Minneapolis; grandchildren Daniel (Amanda), Andrew (Rhea Eva), Elizabeth Crofton, and Haley Griese; brother Dean Brandsness of Roseville; sister-in-law, Marge Frost of Red Wing; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Gordon, born on September 1, 1929 in St. Paul, was the eldest son of Einar and Alpha Brandsness. A graduate of St. Paul Central High School 1947 and the University of Minnesota, he served our country in the Korean War. He was a dedicated employee of the Unisys Corporation for 38 years. Gordon enjoyed the great outdoors. He put thousands of miles on his bicycle, counted birds of all kinds, built numerous bluebird and wood duck houses, and loved to grow beautiful flowers and vegetables in his garden. He was incredibly handy and spent time on woodworking and carving projects. He also enjoyed exploring his family roots. Dad was always gracious, willing to lend a hand, and had a great sense of humor. He was an active 56-year member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of White Bear Lake. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 6, at 11am at 1st Presbyterian Church of White Bear Lake, with a luncheon to follow. Memorials preferred to 1st Presbyterian Church of White Bear Lake or the American Swedish Institute.
