Survived by his three children James, Mary Kay, and Linda; their spouses, children and grandchildren. Howard was born in Goodland, Minnesota in 1922 and grew up on the Iron Range. We carry with us the vibrant stories that only he could tell of life in northern Minnesota during the Great Depression. He served his country as a Navy aviator and flight instructor in Pensacola, Florida during World War II. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Howard had a passion and purpose for solving the design and planning needs of many municipalities throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. He founded Howard A. Kuusisto Consulting Engineers, a highly respected and innovative engineering firm. Howard left an enduring mark through perseverance and hard work. His wit, keen intellect, kind spirit and remarkable accomplishments are a lasting inspiration to his children, grandchildren and to extended family and friends. The family gives heartfelt thanks to the staff and hospice support at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills for their excellent care during Howard's last years. In the spring of 2013 the family plans a memorial celebration to honor the lives of Mildred and Howard.
