He spent 30 years as an educator in Trimont, Waseca and Inver Grove, retiring as Dean of Students at Simley High School in 1985. The passion of Jim's career was helping his students and he always strove to support each one to become their own special person. He felt blessed with the opportunity to teach so many, and to the end he worried about those he could not reach. He was among the founding staff members of Simley HS. Jim was a charter member of the Inver Grove Heights Lions Club, and was active in American Legion, Knights of Columbus and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. In retirement Jim and Rosalie built a lake home in Emily, MN which he called his "happy place", and they wintered in Sun City, AZ for many years. Jim returned to radio for a few years in Brainerd and stayed active in several civic groups in Emily, until they returned to Inver Grove in 2006.
