Age 78 ~ Of Rio Verde, Arizona Passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 Born in St. Paul, MN to the late Walter and Charlotte (Thaung) Carlson on September 18, 1935. The eighth of nine children. He graduated high school at St. Paul Central. As an accomplished and avid athlete he participated on the varsity football and basketball teams. Lettering in both. Jeff attended the University of Minnesota and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He was married on 4/27/52 to, Ann Clare Lindholm, also deceased. He started his sales career at Anchor Paper in St Paul opening his business, Viking Plastic Packaging, in downtown St. Paul in 1967, which he expanded to Mendota Heights and enjoyed until his retirement in 1995. He split his time between his beloved lake home on Bass Lake, New Richmond, WI and his home in Tonto Verde, AZ. Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Cindy Hamilton Carlson and four children: Jeffrey John (Joy) Carlson of Burnsville, Julie Ann Carlson of Woodbury, Scott Steven (Luan) Carlson of Big Lake and Christina Ruth (Jack) Lee of Eden Prairie. Seven grandchildren Shelby Carlson of Chicago, IL, Eric Carlson of Minneapolis, Clare Carlson of Burnsville, Steven Carlson of Mayville, ND, Rachel (Daniel) Oberholtzer of Omaha, NE, Samantha Lee and Annie Lee of Eden Prairie. Also surviving him are four siblings Janet Nicholas, Allentown, PA, Joyce (John) Peterson, Rio Verde, AZ, Judy Reutz, Nashville, TN and Juliann "Petie" Byrne, San Diego, CA. He is preceded in death by siblings, Jean Goff, St. Paul, Geraldine Eha, St. Paul, John Carlson, San Diego, CA, and James Carlson, Grand Forks, ND. He enjoyed gardening/ landscaping, curling, snowmobiling, motorcycling, tennis, skiing, and golf. Loved his bridge and gin and spent many happy hours on his tractor and bobcat building walls, moving rocks, digging in the dirt. He is missed. Memorial service to be St. Clement's Episcopal Church, St. Paul, MN, 1PM, August 21. Another to be in Rio Verde, AZ early November.
