Jessica Rochelle GOVE Obituary
Age 38 Passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Jessica is predeceased by nephew, Josh Gove; maternal grandparents, Dick and Alyce Cecka; paternal grandparents, Robert and Connie Gove; aunt, Peggy Warden. Jessica lives on through her loving fiancé, Craig Yost, of 10 years. They were engaged in Hot Sulfur Springs, Colorado. They returned to the hot springs on April 12, 2013, to celebrate their engagement and their love. Jessica is lovingly remembered by her mother and step-father, Terri and Darris Winter; father, David Gove; brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Tami Gove and nephews, JJ and Jeffrey; step-sister Darrolyn (Brian) Beyer and step-nieces, Cassandra, Ashley and Anna; her fiancé Craig's family: father, Chuck Yost; mother and her partner, Sharon Yost and Wayne Linn; sister, Amy Yost Jesperson and nephew, Logan; paternal grandmother, Anna Catlin; maternal grandmother, Laverna Sutherland. Jessica was born in Minneapolis, MN, on August 28, 1974. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1992 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Masters of Science and Education in Community Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Jessica was passionate about her work as a child and family therapist. She worked for many organizations providing home and community therapeutic services to children and families, homeless youth, battered women, developmentally disabled and individuals with mental health disabilities. She was dedicated to finding activities that would allow children to open up and express their feelings, challenges, and goals for the future. There was a stack of games and fishing equipment in the back of her Jeep-- "for my kids!" she said. Jessica helped a selectively mute teen open up and find her voice. She helped a young man with Asperger's Syndrome socialize and feel connected. Most recently she accomplished these things during her employment at Canvas Health. The Jessica Gove Fishing Pole Youth Activity memorial fund has been established. The purpose will be to fund additional activities for the children that she devoted her adult life to. Anyone who knew Jessica knew her love of travel. She had a bucket list of the natural wonders of the United States and thanks to her determination she and Craig visited them all. Her own adventures are framed throughout their home. We know the stories behind many of them: taking her mother to a Broadway play in New York City, reeling in halibut in Alaska with Craig, walking the mystical paths of Ireland and learning of its politics and history. Trips to Colorado or Florida to see her brother and family and take part in his life, the extraordinary love she felt for them all and the challenges she would defy to get there. Whether it required many miles or just a few, Jessica had a way of making all trips a special outing. Her framed photos highlighted that importance in her life in a special way. The visitation will be held at Willwerscheid Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1167 Grand Avenue, St. Paul, MN, 651-228-1006 on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 3-8 PM. The celebration of life will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7180 Hemlock Lane North, Maple Grove, MN 55369 on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canvas Health, c/o David Becker, 7066 Stillwater Blvd North, Oakdale, MN 55128. Please note Jessica Gove Youth Activity Fund on your check.
