Born February 3rd, 1925 in Copenhagen, Denmark and passed surrounded by his family at home on February 10th, 2013 in Wayzata, Minnesota. Jorgen was admitted to the Royal Danish Guard at age 17 and then fought in the Danish Resistance during WWII helping smuggle Jewish refugees to Sweden. He survived capture and torture by the Gestapo in 1944. Jorgen emigrated to the US in 1947 and married his wife of 62 years Lucille Shorba in 1950. From 1951 to 1953 he served in the US Army in Korea earning a Silver Star and Purple Heart. Upon discharge he embarked on a lifelong career in hotel and restaurant management, following his father's footsteps. Jorgen worked in Minneapolis and Chicago, and then in 1962 was hired to work for Marriott in Washington, DC. He left Marriott in 1971 as their Senior VP to become President of Radisson Hotel Corp in Minneapolis. He retired in 1985 at the helm of Radisson and enjoyed his retirement years traveling the globe with Lucille. He also served as a volunteer for the Executive Service Corp on two assignments in Bulgaria and Rumania. He was a member of Wayzata Community Church for over 40 years and enjoyed membership and golfing at Burl Oaks during his retirement. Jorgen is survived by his beloved wife Lucille; his daughter Christine Andersen, her husband John, and her two sons Lars and Thomas Groth in Denmark; his daughter Linda Gammon, her husband Dan, and her daughter Lesley Gammon and son Jeffrey Gammon; his daughter Karen Rosicka, her husband Joe, and her daughter Jennifer Rosicka and son Joey Rosicka; and his son Steven Viltoft, his wife Anne, and his son Jorgen Viltoft, along with numerous cousins and relatives in the US and in Denmark.
