Age 61 of Eagan Died on July 13, 2014 Joe was born on November 5th, 1952 in Duluth, MN, to Frank R. and Moya Joan (Woods) Kolar. Joe went to Holy Rosary Grade School and Duluth East High School. After high school, he attended the University of Minnesota - Duluth and Brown Institute in Minneapolis. During his college days he was a manager of the Lake Aire Juveniles Hockey Team during the 1971-1972 season in which they placed 2nd at the U.S. Nationals. Joe then moved to Ashland, WI where he worked as a Broadcaster for WATW Radio. While in Ashland, he met his wife, Gerree Victoria (DiMarco) and they married in 1980. Joe and Gerree gave birth to one daughter, Joan Irene Kolar. Upon moving to the Twin Cities, Joe worked for Gourmet Award Foods and worked in the specialty food business for the rest of his working career. Joe prided himself in being a volunteer at the Hope Lodge, where he used his knowledge of computers, sense of humor, charm, and story-telling abilities to help put people at ease. Joe is survived by his wife, Gerree; daughter, Joanie; dog, Weblie; siblings, Martha Kolar Ives, Janette Kolar and her husband Stanley Hajduk, and James (Patricia) Kolar; nieces and nephews, Lucas Ives, Jacobsen Ives, Catherine Kolar, Alison Kolar, Steven Kolar, Laurie Decker, Anthony DiMarco, Josh Nelson, Andrew Nelson, Margaret Brindley, and Nicholas Benson; and many other loving family and friends. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Thursday, July 17th, 2014 from 5-9PM, with a Memorial Service starting at 7 PM at KLECATSKY & SON'S FUNERAL HOME - EAGAN CHAPEL (1580 Century Pt., Eagan). In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Hope Lodge (2500 SE 23rd Ave., Mpls, MN 55414). Many thanks and love to the nursing staff and support staff at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. A special thank you to Dr. Brian McClune who lovingly cared for Joe. 651-454-9488
