Karim P. JERAJ Obituary
Karim P. Jeraj's long journey with Alzheimer's disease ended on May 23, 2014 at age 68. Karim is survived by wife Laura Stone-Jeraj and daughter, Alia Jeraj, two sisters and two brothers of Canada and London, many beloved nephews, nieces, grand nephews grand nieces, cousins and friends. Karim had a distinguished career in veterinary medicine, working mainly in academia and research. He was most proud of his work with Dr. Michaels at the University of Minnesota, contributing to research in childhood diabetes. He then worked at Baylor College of Medicine and University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. Karim was Director of Laboratory Animal Services at the University of Hawai'i from 1995 until 1999. The career he loved was cut short by Alzheimer's disease. Diagnosed in 2001 at age 55, he was by then totally disabled. Karim volunteered in many ways throughout his life and career. He loved meeting people, travel, photography, soccer and racketball. He was a loving husband, father and friend to many and will be greatly missed. Traditional Ismaili Muslim funeral on Wednesday, May 28th at Anderson Funeral Hall, 1401 Arcade St., St. Paul, MN at 11:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon and brief celebration of his life at 1:00 p.m. Friends are invited to attend services and/or luncheon. Memorials preferred to or The Gathering at Lyngblomsten.
