Richard Henry WILLIS Obituary
Age 93 Resident of Roseville for 59 years Passed away on Tuesday, February 25th, 2014. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Elaine; infant son Richard Charles Willis; granddaughter Kelly J. Thompson; parents Janet Bach and Matthew A. Willis; stepfather Richard Walsh; sisters Charlotte Slapkins and Jeanette Pavlick. Survived by children Gary (Nancy) Willis of Deerfield, IL, Nancy (Jerry) Husby of Shoreview, Jeanne (Robert) Walz of North Branch, Richard M. (Olga) Willis of Roseville and Jim (Donna) Willis of Apple Valley; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and sister Shirley (Marlo) Nelson of Bloomington. A WWII veteran, Richard served with the US Coast Guard during the war. He owned Willis Landscaping service, and also worked for Chandler-Wilbert Vault Company for 22 years. His enjoyment of the outdoors and his love of birds, especially bluebirds, gave him tremendous satisfaction. He was known as the Bluebird Man of Roseville and took care of the bluebird nest boxes located at Roseville Area Schools District Center for 14 years. Richard will be remembered for his friendly and caring manner and ability to talk to anyone and everyone. He will remain in our hearts forever. Memorial gathering on Saturday, March 1 at 11AM at Roseville Memorial Chapel (2245 No. Hamline Ave, Roseville, MN, 651-631-2727) with visitation one hour prior to service. Private interment at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date.
