Robert Lee (Bob) MENNELL Obituary
Born March 5, 1934 Died on December 12, 2013 after a prolonged battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Bob was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and believed that people in Minnesota spoke with funny accents. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Antoinette Yarrow (Toni) Mennell and their four children: Ann Mennell (Mrs. Kirk ) Clowser, Rev. John (Rev. Sonia Waters) Mennell, James (Elizabeth) Mennell and Betsy Mennell. They have eleven grandchildren: Katherine L. Friedl, Nicholas W. Friedl, Alexander J. Spilde, Skylar G. Clowser, John A. Mennell, Sarah A. Mennell, Grace P. Mennell, J. William Mennell, Samantha M. Mennell, Benjamin A. Mennell and Augustine Y. Mennell. Bob is a graduate of Palm Springs High School, UCLA and Harvard Law School. He earned the LL.M. (Master of Laws) degree in taxation from William Mitchell College of Law. He served three years in the United States Army, practiced law for fifteen years in California and Minnesota and taught law (wills, trusts and taxation) for 15 years before spending nine years with the firm which is now Ameriprise. He is the author of numerous law articles and three books published by West Academic: California Decedents' Estates (1973), Wills and Trusts in a Nutshell (1979), 2d edition, 1994), 3d edition (with Burr, 1997) and 4th edition (with Burr, 2012) and Community Property in a Nutshell (1982), 2d edition, 1988 and 3d edition (with Carrillo, 2013). Bob enjoyed entering sweepstakes as a hobby and was the co-host of the 2010 National Sweepstakes Convention. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 42 years. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 17 at Trinity Baptist Church, 2220 Edgerton Street, Maplewood, Minnesota 55117. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. Private burial in Cathedral City, California. Memorials preferred to Trinity Baptist Church.
