Stephen C. LAPADAT Obituary
Of Shoreview Passed away peacefully on July 9, 2014 at age 77. Preceded in death by his wife Judy (Lanoux) Lapadat and son Joseph Lapadat, parents Steve and Eva (Damian) Lapadat, brother John Lapadat, and sister Violet Erwin. Steve was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on Oct. 31, 1936. He was a graduate of St. Paul's Washington High School, the University of Minnesota (BA, Political Science), and William Mitchell College of Law (JD, 1968). Steve also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After serving in the Marines, Steve met a beautiful, warm and funny young dental assistant from South St. Paul named Judy Lanoux. They were married in the summer of 1961 and had 39-years full of love, joy, surprise, laughter, sadness, wonder, struggle, triumph and life together. A much-anticipated retirement together sadly changed when Judy passed away from congestive heart failure in the fall of 2001. She was 62. Steve worked for many years as an attorney for Northern States Power Co. (now Xcel Energy). He acquired many friends from both NSP and the legal profession in the Twin Cities. Throughout his professional life, Steve maintained a reputation for integrity, expertise, and hard work. He was the "family attorney" for the Lapadat's and Lanoux's and seemed to always be doing some sort of gratis legal work for relatives or friends. In his leisure time and his retirement, Steve spent many days and evenings rooting on "his Minnesota Twins" and Gopher football and basketball. He always had time to share with his grandchildren. His favorite way of relaxing was with suspenseful detective and spy novels by his favorite authors. Steve is survived by his children Bill (Mary Jo) of Eden Prairie, Sally Paulsen of Arden Hills, Jim (Nancy) of Hugo, and Tom (Heather) of New Brighton, and his six grandchildren. Visitation 4 – 7 PM Monday, July 21, 2014 at HOLCOMB–HENRY–BOOM-PURCELL, 515 W Hwy 96 at Mackubin, Shoreview. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 12 PM on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the same location, (Visitation from 11 to Noon). Private interment at a later date.
